Your Preferred Method Of Communication

July 12, 2007 in the NY Times on Life’s Work–Lisa Belkin wrote a wonderful piece called "Let’s Talk. Let Me Outline the Ways"
The main point of the article was ‘communicating to people the way they wished to be contacted’.I say this in all of my speeches and workshops and it is a real ‘aha’ to so many of us.

Whenever I meet and connect with someone, I ask and then record in my contact information: "What is your preferred method of communication?" Very often I am surprised–yet I note it and follow suit in all of my communications. It is not "how" I want to communicate–it is how "they" want to…
