My friend Peter Phelan is a thought leader in human resources. His resume is a veritable who's who of progressive organizations & he's been published in The Washington Post ,Kiplingers and Wealth Manager and he has been doing a lot of pro bono comedy work for non-profits as 2009 draws to a close.
In late November, he co-Executive Produced (with Myron Kandel, Founding Financial Editor at CNN) the video shorts for The Financial Follies – a NYFWA event which raises money for scholarships for students interested in financial journalism. Peter has been involved as a writer/emcee/performer at this gala event since 2002 – which is attended by more than a thousand of the top people in financial news/financial PR at Times Square's Marriott Marquis annually. Started in 1938 – the event is one of New York journalism's great traditions.
In early December, Peter performed a set of his unique brand of witty clean stand-up comedy to a sold-out house at New York Comedy Club. Two thirds of the door at that event went to Autism Speaks.
