I had the great honor of meeting Carnegie Samuel Calian, who is the former President of Pittburgh Theological Seminary and the current visiting professor at the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. We met when Dr. Calian was attending a conference in Pittsburgh for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in Pittsburgh and he attended my workshop on Social Media.
We had a great discussion and I learned that he is the author of many books including The Ideal Seminary and Survival or Revival and his newest book, The Spirit-Driven LEADER-Seven Keys to SUCCEEDING Under Pressure. I recently recieved my copy and devoured it where pearls of wisdom jump off every page.
Take a look to see what others have to say about Dr. Calian's book:
“Calian describes how a leader’s toughness of heart, mind, and soul can bring out the creativity and energy of collaborators.”
—Dr. Michael Maccoby, author of The Leaders We Need: And What Makes Us Follow
“Calian brings a lifetime of experience. His insights are valuable to people of all faiths and walks of life.”
—Samuel L. Hayes III, Professor Emeritus, Harvard Business School
What do Bill Gates, King Solomon, Abraham, and Lincoln have in common? They're all excellent examples of how leaders under pressure manage to succeed. Former Pittsburgh seminary president Sam Calian outlines seven keys to effective leadership under pressure: creativity, competence, commitment, character, collegiality, compassion, and courage. Filled with telling anecdotes, Calian's book asks readers to look not only within themselves but to reach out to others to inspire hope and build stronger communities in trying times.
One other important fact about Dr. Calian– he is a truly delightful and lovely person.
