Networking versus Networking

Picture_for_blog_networking My business colleague and friend, Larry Ballard who writes for the Des Moines Register recently called me about an interesting article he was writing on the use of social networking sites and especially how they are being used in corporate America.

The article specifically talked about how some people are abusing the social networking sites during work hours and are doing ‘non work’ related things! Larry asked for my opinion and I gave it to him and you can read the article by clicking the link below.

Larry Ballard writes a bi-weekly column, "Workbytes" about workplace issues which is distributed through Gannett News Service to the company’s daily papers. He is a top reporter and writer and if you would like to get in touch with him–write to him at [email protected]  He always replies and is one smart guy!

You are so right, Andrea! I see people on LinkedIn answering 200 or more questions a week! How do they find the time to do anything else? I also wonder whether all that activity pays off in any way. I’d much rather speak to 50 of the “right” people than 5,0000 random people.
