The POWER of Preparation
The trick is to be prepared, have your plan of action, stay calm, and ask for what you want. Here’s how to do it with authority and P.O.W.E.R:
P “Prepare, prepare, prepare,” said Winston Churchill. Essentially when you make a call, you are making a pitch or a presentation. Prepare in advance what you want to say.
O Develop an outline from beginning to end. Know what you want to say from beginning to end.
W Walk in the customer’s shoes. When you speak with your client, hear them out and listen. You will learn something during the process.
E Enter the stage, strongly and confidently. Shakespeare said that we’re all actors on this stage called life. If your client is like a lion and your approach is like a lamb, you might be devoured!
R Rapport will build bridges. You’ve heard the expression, love your friends and love your enemies more.” Build the relationship.
In any case, the P.O.W.E.R. you have is often in your hands. Take action!
