The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge
The PMC, presented by the Boston Red Sox and Overstock.com, is the nation’s first fundraising bike-a-thon and today raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. On August 4 and 5, 2007, 4,800 cyclists traveled nine routes, logging between 50 and 192 miles over one or two days, through 46 scenic Massachusetts towns to raise $27 million for cancer. One of my dear friends, Paul Schaye has been riding in this challenge for the last 10 years.
This year was the most important for him–just 10 months ago, he was diagnosed with cancer and as he says–he is both a ‘thriver and an ironman’. He put together Paul’s Posse–over 50 other incredible cyclists who rode the full challenge with him. All of them in amazing shape–I went to the ‘send off’ party and I saw them all with my own eyes!
Paul is truly an amazing inspiration to everyone he meets and gives everyone the attitude that they can do better and turn anything into a positive experience.
He is a CEO, athlete and cancer thriver and an all around great person.
Tune into this interview for 5 minutes with Laura Ingraham-another biker, radio host extraordinare and inspiration herself. You will be blown away by the conversation and the pictures of the Pan Mass Challenge.
Here’s to my friend, Paul–the Ironman!
