Learn about the European American Chamber of Commerce-In New York

 
I recently met Francesco Liberti who is the chapter administrator of the European American Chamber of Commerce in New York City. As we shared a coffee after meeting through another mutual friend–Frank Boros (the terrific artist I blogged about several weeks ago), I learned allot about this wonderful organization

A few of the facts I learned about the chamber are:

• the EACC is a growing network of chapters with presence in Paris, Cincinnati and New York and with over 600 members
• their mission is to foster business relationships, networking and collaboration between and among European and American companies and individuals
• while many chambers focus on a particular country or geographic area, their goal is to represent all of Europe (both EU and non-EU) as Europe (as a single political entity) gains in importance and weight
• their mission is carried forth through a variety of channels:  events, round tables and a focused web strategy.  Our events include large conferences and workshops on a variety of business-related topics.  The round tables are more intimate in nature and designed to allow easier interaction with the speakers and among participants and are typically attended by groups of 15 to 30 professionals.  Our web strategy includes relaunching of a website that will include members' profiles, resources (such as EC policies, guidance, etc,), blogging and interactive tools for members to request assistance in networking with other companies or individuals
•  events include a broad range of topics from private equity funding in times of financial crisis, conflict resolution on the workplace, the potential effect of financial regulations as proposed by the Obama Administration, terrorism and the effects on businesses in the US and abroad, and the changes in the SEC enforcement.  Upcoming events will address trends in the distressed commercial real estate market, international tax issues, the issue of privacy in the US and Europe, and protection of intellectual property.
• Their goal is not to replace the existing bilateral or bi national chambers, rather to enhance the reach of companies across all of Europe
• the EACC in New York is presided by James Rosener, Managing Partner of the firm of Pepper Hamilton LLP.  Board members include representatives from Deloitte, Orrick Harrington & Sutcliffe, AlixPartners, Noerr and Salibello & Broder.
