Through sending out my Tip of the Month and connecting with real superstars–I met Jerry Bellune who is a marketing genius! —The #1 Small Business Authority— www.JerryBellune.com
As an entrepreneur,Jerry is chairman of three publishing and consulting organizations: Lexington Publishing Company, Inc., The Bellune Company, Inc. and Jerry Bellune & Associates. He and his wife also own Bellune Properties LLC. They publish two newspapers and a variety of niche publications for their customers. He speaks and conducts workshops for business owners and their staff, newspaper executives and many other types of organizations across the country and there is much more!!
I like when Jerry says that he teaches "Productivity" Managment rather then Time Management. Here is a snapshot of his system and shows his output:
1. 2-3 new articles for their newspaper a week.
2. An editorial and Editor Talks with YOU-column.
3. Million Dollar Ideas newsletter on Monday.
4.Weekly Success Blog on Tuesday.
5.Advertising & Marketing Letter on Wednesday.
He also writes two monthly nationally-distributed newsletter-like columns in trade publications.
As an author of 11 books and self study courses–this is his formula:
1. Plan upcoming weeks schedule every Sunday afternoon.
2.Block out at least 6 hours for work with assigned tasks in each block with the time he expects each to take.
3.Time all recurring projects so he has a good idea of how long it will take to write a column, newsletter or interview.
4.Leave another 2 hours open for phone calls, emails and 'got a minute' from others.
5.Plug in the the largest projects early in the day when energy level is highest.
6.Early riser to do some computer work before anyone else is around.
7.Closes the door and ignores the phone when in 'production mode'.
8.Everything goes into his mailbox/inbox so no need to sort through piles to find anything.
9.He touches nothing more then once. It is either acted on, delegated, discarded or filed to work on later.
10.Meetings are scheduled to avoid the 'got a minute' things from staff.
This is just the snapshot of Jerry—to learn more about him and his work and how he gets things done productively, efficiently and educationally—visit his website and then be sure to 'schedule' an appointment!! You will learn alot!
