Introverts Advantage

The Introvert’s Networking AdvantageT19910724_3

Many people feel that, despite all their knowledge of networking, they are too shy to network successfully. The idea that networking is only for people with outgoing  personalities is false. Introverts have strengths that they can use with strategies that blend well with their personalities. Here are some strategies:

Introverts are usually great listeners. They often:

  • Remember details about their contacts, which others might miss Focus on the person they are talking to, making that person feel significant Build sound relationships and care for them
  • Introverts are often caring and helpful, watching out for others. This means that they:
    • Find the right time to speak
    • Help others, which often makes others want to help them in return
    • Network very well in situations where they can use their skill to assist others

Introverts are almost always passionate about a certain aspect of their business, industry, or product, which helps them to:

  • Naturally speak with enthusiasm and conviction about the things that matter to them
  • Overcome shyness by discussing something about which they are passionate
  • Become extremely effective when they have focus and a genuine reason to make a contact

By building upon their strengths, introverts will become effective networkers. They listen well, help others when they can, and speak well when they are passionate about something. These strengths help them to build and nurture strong relationships, which is the key to great networking.
