Through one of my good friends, colleagues and former President of ASTD(Association of Training and Developemnt) in New York, Greg Rider, I was a speaker a couple of years ago for their conference in Washington DC. At that conference I reconnected with Shannon Poppe, who I had known years ago from my frequent trips to Nebraska.
Fast forward, Shannon who is the founder of Desktop Ergonomics www.desktopergo.com and 'reduces health costs one workstation at a time' is also the President of ASTD- Lincoln chapter asked me to present at their regional conference yesterday in Omaha. It was such a great experience to be with such a great speaker lineup—(see above) and also to see Shannon again. By the way, I am almost 5 foot 8– however I look short since Shannon is 6-2! 🙂
I also had the great opportunity to meet Dr. Ralph Kilman, CEO of KILMAN Diagnostics and Resoling Conflict Throughout the World www.kilmanndiagnostics.com (above and to my left) whose session also dealt with using his "Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument) for managing complex problems.
To my right- is "Mr. Energy"– Jim Smith of JIMPACT Enterprises www.JIMPACT.com who was our closing keynote and they don't call him Mr. Energy for nothing! In fact– to really live, you have to be "JIMPACTed!" The small world here is that Jim and I had been emailing for a few weeks due to my introduction virtually to him from Greg Rider— so we finally found ourselves at the same conference!
Truly a wonderful, action packed day and I had the great opportunity to open the program with "Kick Off Your Relationship Building Skills and Make this Conference One to Remember!"
Throughout the day, –there were wonderful sessions and breakouts and I also enjoyed very much learning from Craig Hickman- who wrote The Oz Principle: Creating More Accountability with Less Resources".
A truly great experience and once again, I was the lucky one to be in the company of such powerful speakers and with a great audience of the top training consultants and human resource professionals in the Omaha-Lincoln area.
Great to meet you at the Conference. You were FABULOUS!!! I certainly will look you up the next time I’m in the big apple. Great photos! – Debbie Friedman (event co-chair).
