Looking exhausted here-in 85 degree weather–this trip has been education daily and truly an exceptional experience. Here we are at one of the most spectacular areas in the South African countryside- Blyde River Canyon– the most amazing views will be in my picture log where the views are breathtaking and this picture is only the entrance.
When we arrived at Bouke's Luck Pot Hotles, a place of African legend containing bizarre holes cut into the rock by river erosion–I felt like it was truly surreal.
Today we explored Johannesburg and learned about South African's turbulent past and toured Soweto, on the outskirts where we visited Mandella's former house (now a museum) and also visited the museum where it took us through each step of the struggle for liberty and freedom and all that the South African people have been through.
Not enough time–to really explore and learn. I will be back.
Of course, we then did some shopping at my favorite places–the outdoor vendors and am happy that I am fairly good at negotiation skills- however, these people are very good salespeople them selves.
Tomorrow, after we walk with the lions, we will fly back to New York.
I have made some wonderful new friends that will be lifelong
Pepper said “walking with lions” sound good to us…sort of like plowing through Times Square
