It is truly a blessing and gift when I receive a note like the one below from Robert Youngblood- or "YB" who I met five years ago when I addressed the Boy Scouts. YB and I have been in touch over the years and he continues to share his knowledge and inspiration to all of those that he touches.
He is in the middle of the picture-holding up one of the books.
See what he wrote-
Andrea,
As a
result of following the system you outlined in your book, Nonstop Networking, I
was able to leverage a connection I made with Karen Lee who is the DECA Advisor
and Marketing Chair at Cosby High School. She heard me speak to another group
of high school students a few years ago and as a result, invited me to speak to
over 150 students at her school in Chesterfield, VA. Many of the students were
members of DECA, which is an International Association of marketing students
that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance,
hospitality, and management.
Last
year, Mrs. Lee asked me to meet with her son and another student so they could
interview me about my business and experience as an entrepreneur. From time to
time we could communicate, mostly through LinkedIn. Then last week, I receive a
phone call from a student who stated that she received my name from Mrs. Karen
Lee. She invited me to come an speak to her classmates about my experience as
an entrepreneurs and why high school students should consider entrepreneurship.
It was a great experience.
Throughout
my talk, I mentioned the importance of having a dream and making decisions that
would lead to one’s goal. I encouraged each student to find a mentor and to
never give up on their dream. In addition, I highlighted "Nonstop
Networking" and 5 other books that would be useful in helping each student
succeed in business and in life. I credited your book as being the most
valuable resource that taught me a system for networking. I explained to the
students how important it was for them to start networking now, because it
would help them find opportunities in the present and future.
Overall,
the students were appreciative of my talk. 5 years ago, you came into my life
and blessed me with the tools to succeed as a networker. I am forever grateful.
Thanks
you for the impact you have made on me, which has allowed me to make an impact
upon countless others.
