Networking Nugget 9 – Do It Now, Every Day, Instead of Waiting for Holidays
Do It Now, Every Day, Instead of Waiting for Holidays
Every day is a holiday when you remember someone. When I was in a Los Angeles hotel gift shop, I found a book of New York poems for my friend Bill (I know, New York poems in LA?), as well as two leather notebooks for friends (one friend is writing his life stories and the other loves keeping a journal). I also found an unusual candle for another client who uses candles to decorate her office. Be alert and think as you find something along your daily path, “Who might like and enjoy this?”. Every day can be a holiday.

Great advice, Andrea! I do this frequently for friends and clients. I remember reading a long time ago that you don’t network when you need something, you just do it. And sure enough those people always remember me when an opportunity arises. It’s not about *buying* them. Sometimes it’s as simple as forwarding a link to an article about an interest someone has that they mentioned some time ago.
So yes, let’s stop waiting for special occasions to demonstrate we’re thinking of those we care about. Any day is a good day.
