Networking is Not a Spectator Sport
We all know it is about taking the action step and making things begin to happen.
Since I have moved to Florida, I have gotten involved with The Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, the Lifelong Learning Academy and an investment club.Research and join a civic, industry, advocacy, or professional group. Go to two meetings, meet two people, and set up two follow-up meetings––before you make your decision to join. This is my “2-2-2 Strategy.” It works every time. My theory: It is quality not quantity that counts. Throughout this process, you will meet new and intersting people and expand your network, your interests and your involvements.
Join for the sake of giving, not getting. You will get a lot back over time. Write down now a couple of organizations you are interested in and make the call or send an email to get started. Once you are in a group, volunteer, write an article, or join a committee. Take the action to become known in your organizations of choice. Opportunities and results will develop over time.
