WorldClass Networking

William_023_2

Here is a picture of me with my client and friend, Willian Ang’awa who I met in an amazing way! We were both checking our email 2 years ago in the Mount Kenya Safari Club in Nanyuki, north of Nairobi and on the slopes of Mt Kenya in Kenya, East Africa. The Safari Club is located in a remote area and the email was still ‘dial up’ in the business center and it was so SLOW!

With the high altitude even Blackberries did not work here!

We started talking and as it turns out, William (who lives and works in Sunderland, North East England as a senior lecturer in marketing and entrepreneurship at the University of Sunderland), was attending and assisting at a conference for judges of in Eastern Africa.

I followed up with William-stayed in touch and here is a picture of us this past week in London discussing opportunities.

William has introduced my networking books to colleagues, students and their library.

We both agreed that it was one thing to start talking and sharing the email dilemma in the wild and remote parts of East Africa–however if I had not followed up–we would not have had lunch in London and continue to work together on speaking opportunities.
