A Real Thriver and an IronMan To Boot!

Paul Schaye For most of us–running or even walking several miles is a great accomplishment. Here is a picture of my good friend, Paul Schaye-investment banker and owner of Chestnut Hill Partners-a private equity firm–who yesterday ran the New York Marathon.

What is amazing and inspiring isn't the fact that Paul has been an incredible athlete his whole life–it is because as he was interviewed both on TV and in the New York Post yesterday he told the following story.

When he was training for the race two years ago, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given one year to live.

Paul is driven in every sense of the word and in this race, he has once again taken it all in stride.

As Paul says, "I have cancer–but it doesn't have me!" Anyone who knows him would truly agree. He is truly the Iron man!

Even last year when his doctor's said he couldn't run–he did the second best thing–he rode his bike alongside the lead pack as a bicycle escort–then had major surgery two days later.

Yesterday he still did the whole 26.2 mile race in a little over 5 hours!

Paul–as I have said many times–YOU Rock!!!!

He sure has the look of an Iron Man. I haven’t heard a lot about Paul, but I’ll definitely look into him, thanks.
